Development Tools for Mindstorm

Abstract: The intent of this project is to create a set of integrated development tools to work with the Lego Mindstorm’s construction set using the Lejos and Java programming languages. This set of tools will handle the smaller details of working with the Lego Mindstorms construction set. A user will be able to write programs and perform commands on the RCX brick from the application window without needing to know all the necessary commands to run a program. The application will also handle saving and loading files, as well as communicating with the RCX Brick through the Infrared tower. Users attempting to operate a Lego Mindstorms robot for the first time will be able to use the application to download the Lejos firmware, which is the operating system for interpreting Java commands. A help screen will be provided to explain the application and the functions it performs.
