Sharing Data
Among Disparate Systems:
An RDF Aware Application
by: John Lauck
Abstract: The pervasiveness of technology has increased computerized usage of data. Unfortunately, as data is transformed into its technological interpretation; people often do not consider how the data will interact with other data or other applications, thereby creating disparate systems and disparate data. This research into the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and related technologies made it possible to develop a Java application that aggregates data from multiple disparate sources by applying RDF Schemas. Newly synthesized data has the potential for better decision-making and possibly revealing new information to multiple organizations. Specific technologies utilized, guidelines and potential cases for accurate usage and extensions for further development will all be discussed.
